With Google Analytics rapidly gaining popularity, you may think that you have all the tools you need to understand your website’s audience. HotJar takes tracking your visitors’ behavior to the next level- with heatmaps and mouse tracking, you can see exactly how your visitors are interacting with your website, and what is making them leave.

Heatmaps are a great tool to see which areas of your site people are spending the most time on. If a map is burning bright red over certain areas of text, you can probably pat yourself on the back for creating text that visitors are actively reading and engaging with. If these areas are glowing blue, on the other hand, you might want to do a little bit of rewording to try to get more engagement.

If you want to take it a step further, HotJar offers visitor recordings, as well, which allow you to watch a recording of an individual’s behavior when navigating your site. This feature is especially helpful for understanding any issues that your site may have with usability, allowing you to improve your site to your audience’s needs.

HotJar also has many different ‘funnel’ tools, in which it will analyze your audience’s behavior and interpret what it means for your site. For example, one of the funnel options is a tool that allows you to see which page causes the most people to exit your site. Using this information, you can alter your site so that users will be less likely to click out and more likely to do what you want them to.
